PAS BS 5308 Part 1 Type 1 MICA/XLPE/IS/OS/LSZH (Fire Resistant)
APPLICATION
Publicly Available Standard (PAS) BS 5308 cables are designed
to carry communication and control signals in a variety of
installation types including those found in the petrochemical
industry. The signals can be analogue, data or voice type and from
a variety of transducers such as pressure, proximity or
microphone. Part 1 Type 1 cables are generally designed for
indoor use and in environments where mechanical protection is
not required. Suitable for fire resistant installations. Individually
screened for enhanced signal security.

What is MICA/XLPE/IS/OS/LSZH (Fire Resistant) Cable used for?
MICA/XLPE/IS/OS/LSZH (Fire Resistant) Cable is a specialized type of cable designed to withstand high temperatures and provide fire resistance. This type of cable is commonly used in applications where fire safety is a critical concern, such as in industrial settings, commercial buildings, and public infrastructure. The combination of materials used in MICA/XLPE/IS/OS/LSZH (Fire Resistant) Cable makes it an ideal choice for environments where the risk of fire is high, and where the safety of people and property is of utmost importance.
The acronym MICA/XLPE/IS/OS/LSZH stands for Mica tape, Cross-linked Polyethylene insulation, Individual and Overall Screens, and Low Smoke Zero Halogen sheath. These components work together to provide the cable with its fire-resistant properties. Mica tape is a mineral-based material that can withstand extremely high temperatures, making it an excellent choice for fire protection. Cross-linked Polyethylene insulation provides the cable with excellent electrical properties and thermal stability, while the individual and overall screens help to protect against electromagnetic interference. The Low Smoke Zero Halogen sheath ensures that in the event of a fire, the cable will not emit toxic fumes, making it safer for occupants and emergency responders.
MICA/XLPE/IS/OS/LSZH (Fire Resistant) Cable is used in a wide range of applications where fire safety is a priority. In industrial settings, it is commonly used in power generation facilities, chemical plants, and oil refineries, where the risk of fire is high due to the presence of flammable materials and high temperatures. In commercial buildings, such as offices, shopping malls, and hospitals, this type of cable is used to ensure the safety of occupants and protect critical infrastructure in the event of a fire. In public infrastructure, such as transportation systems and tunnels, MICA/XLPE/IS/OS/LSZH (Fire Resistant) Cable is used to provide fire protection and ensure the safety of passengers and workers.
One of the key benefits of MICA/XLPE/IS/OS/LSZH (Fire Resistant) Cable is its ability to maintain its integrity and functionality even in the presence of fire. This is crucial in critical applications where the failure of electrical systems during a fire could have catastrophic consequences. By using MICA/XLPE/IS/OS/LSZH (Fire Resistant) Cable, businesses and organizations can ensure that their operations remain safe and functional even in the event of a fire, minimizing the risk of injury, property damage, and business interruption.
In a word, MICA/XLPE/IS/OS/LSZH (Fire Resistant) Cable is a crucial component in ensuring fire safety in a wide range of applications. Its unique combination of materials and design make it an ideal choice for environments where the risk of fire is high, and where the safety of people and property is a top priority. By using MICA/XLPE/IS/OS/LSZH (Fire Resistant) Cable, businesses and organizations can mitigate the risk of fire-related incidents and ensure the safety and functionality of their operations.
